Asset manager GMO is strategically expanding into Asia's private wealth sector, moving beyond its traditional institutional base by building a select network of intermediary partners, according to its new head of intermediary business for the region.

In a significant shift beyond its core institutional business, global asset manager GMO is launching a targeted push into Asia's burgeoning private wealth market. Spearheading this new initiative, the firm's Asia intermediary head, Dexter Chua, has outlined a strategy focused on building a curated "partnership ecosystem" with private banks and family offices, rather than pursuing a broad product-sales approach.
